I try to keep the good bits like not judging people and avoiding excesses, but those bits aren't exclusive to the bible. Just gotta take the good you get throughout life and leave the bad behind.

Does anyone live by any Bible stuff?
by punkofnice inthis is not meant to be a slag off the bible thread.. i had a question asked me the other day and it was: 'do you live by anything from the bible?'.
i had to think about that one because i was force grown in the filthy, disgusting cult of the paedophile loving watchtower(r).. you know what?
i really don't know if i just naturally am a great bloke or if any 'nice' bits in the bible influenced me......or has western culture been influenced by the bible for good and bad?.

Weird crazy rules imposed by your local Elders.
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know the sort of thing..... in many congregations, specific "rules" creep in...introduced by the local elders that become set in stone.. years ago, i heard of a congregation that sat down during the first song of the evening but stood for all others (the co changed that very soon after).
then there were the older accounts of congs that had rules to make the public speakers wear only white shirts.... in one cong now, i heard that brothers can only be used for sound or microphones if they do a minimum of 5 hours per month in the ministry!.
another cong has ruled that all appointed men must pioneer for at least one month each year in order to remain qualified.. .

I had a witnessing partner who was early 70 years old to my 28-29, a married pioneer of the opposite sex. I was told I couldn't go on calls with him as we'd be alone together and it would set a bad example to all the 18 year olds who were 'courting'. As if!!!

JW Organization is occasionally spirit-guided! Here is the proof!
by exWTslave inplease follow the sequence of events connected with a bethel and see what you can conclude!.
1) when brach committee took a decision like a money-minded corporation, a conscientious bethelite (who is my close friend) wrote to the gb.. 2) gb took the bc into task, and directed bc to reverse its decision in that particular case.. 3) in time bc took revenge on the bethelite and removed his bethel-eldership on fabricated charges.. 4) gb withdraws the very arrangement of bethel eldership from all its branches!.
5) after one year, bc felt that their revenge was neutralized because of the unexpected withdrawal of bethel-eldership itself, again fabricated charges with the help of false witnesses and dismissed and disfellowshipped that bethelite.. 6) after two years the two bc members who orchestrated all the above events were sent out of bethel in great dishonor, virtually into wilderness ordinary publishers!.

Yep, just an Organization purging itself. Totalitarian organizations do it all the time to keep the people in line.

Similarity of new released book cover and CoC cover graphics, coincidence?
by oppostate inif you look at the cover of the new history book of the wt, with it's regal purple cover of a cloudy mountain range like graphic... and.
compare it with the english cover of crisis of conscience do you see some similarity?

No, but the new kingdom book's cover looks exactly like a card my husband got sent about his grandfather's funeral. That cover is depressing. As a sunset, I would connote the dying of an era rather than a glorious king's reign.

Yes sometimes and ignored others. Mostly yesexcept for one i went to for the tms and service meeting cuz of schedule conflict, and one where I was well enough known. The tms one: I was introduced to a family and told they would look after me but they ignored me like everyone else. The other: first cong I ever went to but it shared the hall with the one I was currently in and it had different customs. The seats at the back were more ergonomic and put there by my cong for people with back problems so that's where I and a couple sat. In the other cong they used them as df person seats! So when I visited the other cong everyone gave me the shun! Although they recognised me they shunned me the whole meeting as a df one until I made a point of talking to an old friend, then it was like they all exhaled and came over to say hi. I was df for two hours and it was horrible, all because of these chairs!

for those still "in" what's the mood
by lastchance inin my area the general sense is bleak.
many are in survival mode.
even at the convention the appearance of the majority was unhappy and tired.

A lot of jws seem to be like most Christiansin that they live normal lives and just go to church on a Sunday. They aren't excited and zealous, they just do it because they believe in god and go for community reasons and to show a bit of faith. Then they go home, got to work, university, schools, family, shopping just like anyone else. Lot of born in jws are the same: they do it because it's their culture and they believe the doctrines but don't live in a perpetual state of zeal. They have families, go on holidays and all that and then sit around in the corridors at conventions. Don't get me wrong though, they still shun like zealots.

by minimus inis it a feeling of---oh no!!?.
are you happy to see them?.
do you have a feeling of consternation?.

Julia Orwell
Consternation. I get nervous. I don't want to see them. I pretend not to unless they spot me first.
